There are so many ups and downs to this process - it is just not easy when it happens all in one day! The good news is: Myra, another adoptive parent who is in China now, visited her son's orphanage today and was able to see and hold our Kimi! She had some wonderful things to say! She said, when she picked her up, Kimi wrapped her arms around her neck and gave her a "real squeeze" and a kiss! She said she had a HUGE smile that lit up her whole face! She said, she put a sticker on her hand and she was very excited, like she had been given the best thing ever, and giggled and grinned! And she wasn't bothered by all the chaos around her (which is good, considering our house can be very chaotic, especially when all 13 grandchildren visit)! But her response to Myra gives me renewed hope that she will be open to us and not afraid. Myra also took some photos and video of Kimi!
The "not so good" news is: I learned today that all of the February Consulate Appointments are already taken. And, here we sit, still waiting on our TA - 16 days now. So it doesn't look like we will be able to bring Kimi home as soon as we had hoped. Also, Elizabeth is running a fever and home from school today and we are getting a ton of snow as I write. This week has been a downer for other reasons, as well. This is, by far, the most difficult part of the process - waiting on TA...and waiting...and waiting...maybe tomorrow....
I saw Kimi's photos on Myra's blog, and she is adorable. You must be thrilled with the new pictures and the personal information about her. Sorry about the appointment, but it's coming.
