Two months already!

Add ImageIt's hard to believe we have had Kimi for two months already! And SO much has happened in that two months...

  • We finalized Kimi's adoption in China

  • Kimi began interacting with us, making good eye contact

  • Kimi learned how to play with toys

  • We brought Kimi home

  • Kimi met the rest of her family

  • Kimi learned to respond to her name

  • Kimi now LOVES baths and doesn't want to get out of the tub after a bath

  • Kimi sleeps in a toddler bed (no more crib-prisons)

  • Kimi began daycare/preschool

  • We have completed much of her medical testing and evaluations with just a couple left

  • We now have her doctors and therapists established

  • We have begun Kimi's regular weekly PT, with OT and language/eating therapy soon to begin

  • Kimi got a haircut (after the photo above was taken)

  • We received Kimi's Certificate of Citizenship

  • Kimi got her custom-made AFOs and walker and has taken her first step

  • Kimi has settled into her new life and is bonding with Mama and Daddy more and more

  • Many of her "orphanage behaviors" have diminished (still not gone, but a lot of progress)

  • Kimi is understanding MUCH of what we say to her and has even said a couple of words ("up" and "more")

  • Kimi now knows how to give us kisses (after we had given her about 1000 of them)

  • Kimi no longer drinks from a baby bottle

  • Kimi can brush her own teeth - well, sort of :-)

  • Kimi has gotten very used to being rocked every evening before bed - it has become an expectation

  • We formally dedicated her to the Lord
Wow! That is a LOT of progress in just 8 weeks time! When we were in China, I wondered how much progress Kimi would have made by the two-month, six-month and twelve-month marks. Needless to say, I am very happy with where Kimi IS, considering where she WAS two months ago! We thank God for blessing our family and for so much answered prayer.

  2. Yes! And she also signed "more" on a couple of occasions - but she won't do it when we WANT her to; only when she wants to. Hmmm. She also ate applesauce on Friday at daycare from an Infa-Feeder (with a nipple); but at least it is "real" food!
