We are Mike and Kathy Perry. Now that Kimi has come home, we are the parents of FIVE children! We also have 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. This blog was originally for our journey to bring Kimi home (see archives). Now, feel free to follow along as God's plans for Kimi begin to unfold before our eyes.

Update on our Grandson, Andy
Andy had a little downturn overnight. His hemoglobin had dropped down to 7, requiring a blood transfusion, which brought it up into the normal range. He also began running a fever of 102.8. However, the nurse said that this is not unusual when a child has this type of injury. Regardless, they are checking for any signs of infection. He now has an NG tube in place so they can begin to feed him via the tube, probably this evening. The doctor said they might begin to wake him up over the coming weekend.

I pray he doesn't have an infection! When they wake him up this weekend, will it be for good, or just for a little while?
ReplyDeleteThey hope to wake him up for good; gradually taking him off the ventilator just before he is completely awake. They have to be careful so he doesn't get upset and negatively affect the pressure in his brain. Right now, he is getting 50% oxygen in order to keep his oxygen saturation rate up high enough. That also has to be resolved.
ReplyDeletePraying!!! Praying! Praying! Sending very big hugs your way!
