Another day of recovery DONE! Most of the day, Kimi did great! She is eating well and drinking water well, so they removed her IV fluids! She has no fever and her vital signs are all great! Bowels and kidneys are working great as well. However, she DID have some swelling of her feet...that was when they decided to remove the IV in her left foot, since she really didn't need it any more. The port is still there for meds, though. She is requiring a lot of pain medicine. Simply changing her diaper or rolling her from one side to the other is very painful for her. (She cannot stay on her back all the time because the doctor doesn't want all that pressure on her back continuously.) So, this HAS to be done. That is the only time she cries, though. She even threw kisses to one of the nurses today. Mike and Elizabeth visited this evening. Mike stayed with Kimi while I took Elizabeth "exploring" around Riley Hospital (she LOVES to do that sort of thing - ever since we arrived early one time for an appointment at St. Vincent, and I turned the wait into an "adventure"). We stopped at the "Raggedy Man" gift shop and I bought her an invisible ink color book. While we "explored", I took a photo of her sitting on the bench next to "James Whitcomb Riley" for whom the hospital is named. Kimi is sleeping now - another day under her belt.
Hope she feels great soon. Hey, go look at the new wing!! It is so, so pretty! It isn't all done, but Cokie was on the 8th floor.
