Finally...Home!

We arrived home very late last night. Kimi tried earphones for the first time on the flight home. The flights went without a hitch until we got to Chicago. Immigration was crazy this time around and then, our flight took off two hours later than scheduled. We are not sure why, but the plane wasn't at the gate until late (they were also overbooked, which scared us) and then we had to sit and wait on de-icing. We could have driven to Indianapolis in the same amount of time. But at least we arrived safe and sound about 30 hours after waking up in Guangzhou! Our nephew, Adam, met us at the gate (he works for TSA) and family and friends were there to greet us after waiting for several hours. Elizabeth just cried and cried. Although she had a great time staying with big sister, Rachel, while we were gone, she was SO happy to see us! Kimi was a little overwhelmed, but didn't seem to get upset.

After we arrived home and everyone left, I put Kimi to bed in her new bed - and, believe it or not, she slept all night long there! She had a couple of meltdowns today; but is doing amazingly well, considering her whole world had been turned upside down - literally! She continues to learn new things every day. She said "Mama" for the first time today; but I'm not sure she knows that means, ME. She is interacting more and more and exploring her new world. She drank from a straw this evening and learned how to blow a whirlygig to make it turn. She really seems to like Elizabeth, and Elizabeth wants to do everything for Kimi - even helping to make bottles and helping with changing Kimi's diapers. Kimi doesn't whimper when I sponge-bath her anymore. Eventually, we will get to baths with Elizabeth. I'll be keeping this blog updated with Kimi's progress.
