Sisters!

We are all continuing to adjust - to one more child, to the change in timezones, to the new dynamic with two girls rather than just one, and to a sweet, little toddler. Mike went right back to work last Monday and I am finally unpacked and laundry is caught up! We went out and bought a toddler bed for Kimi and put it in the girls' room, after I learned it was somewhat difficult to get Kimi into the lower bunk bed with the side rail on it, since she cannot climb in by herself yet. This has made it SO much easier - especially for diaper changes! We have done a second bath/hairwashing with smiles! We have the initial pediatric medical exam completed and the International Adoption Clinic exam scheduled for next week. I have also been researching programs in the area which address developmental therapy, speech therapy, OT, PT, eating issues, and attachment. In short, I have been REALLY busy; but trying to get all the mileage out of my time off work as possible!

Kimi is getting more and more familiar with her surroundings and more comfortable with us. She will play for awhile and then come over to me and raise up her arms to be held for a little "mommy fix". But she gets tired of it somewhat quickly and wants to be put down. But its a start! I keep working with her on language and signing so she will be able to communicate with us; but not too much progess in that department yet. Her play is becoming more creative and is more like a two-year-old now - so quite a bit of progress in less than 3 weeks! This week, we received a letter from the Pre-K we had enrolled her in earlier in the year, about Pre-K testing. Well, at this point, it doesn't look like Pre-K is going to be an option for this year - just too much catching up to do by August. But we'll get there! We will make a decision about this by the end of May.

I have attached a few photos of Elizabeth and Kimi in their Jie Jie (big sister)/Mei Mei (little sister) shirts! Elizabeth is SO patient with Kimi and is SUCH a help with her! With Kimi moving to the toddler bed, Elizabeth has moved to the lower bunk to be closer to her new sister.
